This policy explains what information Browsers Corner (“we”, “us”, browserscorner.com) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It is a general policy and not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Submissions: if you share a link or story, we store what you enter (headline, link or story text, and optionally your name and email). Your email is only used to contact you about your submission and is never shown publicly.
- Comments: the name (optional) and comment text you post. Comments are reviewed before they appear.
- Ratings: your star rating is stored with an anonymised, salted hash of your IP address so one person cannot vote repeatedly. We cannot recover your IP address from it.
- Technical data: like most websites, our server and hosting provider process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect against abuse (for example rate limits on submissions and comments).
Cookies and local storage
- Essential: a sign-in cookie is used only by site moderators. Visitors are not given tracking cookies by us.
- Preferences: we store your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask every visit.
- Videos: the Videos page shows thumbnails loaded from YouTube’s image servers. A video only loads from YouTube (using its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player) after you click it, and YouTube’s own privacy policy then applies.
- Advertising (when enabled): we plan to show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Ad cookies are only loaded if you accept them in the cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information. When you click a story you may be taken to the publisher’s site, which has its own privacy policy. Some articles are displayed inside our page using the publisher’s own content, so that publisher may receive your IP address and browser details. The Share button opens social networks only when you choose one. We use hosting and security providers to run the site.
How long we keep data
Submissions, comments and ratings are kept for as long as they are useful to the site, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date above shows when it was last changed.
